How to phrase affirmations
A short guide: positive, present-tense, believable wording—and how to pick the right level to start.
Phrase positively
Instead of “I no longer feel afraid,” try “I grow safer step by step.” The brain handles positive, forward-facing lines better than negations.
Use the present
“I am calm” rather than “I will be calm.” Present tense supports grounding in the here and now.
Stay believable
If “I am confident” still feels false, start with more distant forms (third person or “you”). Napolill’s level system is built for that gradual shift.
Choosing a level
Level 1: gentle, neutral (e.g. third person). Level 2: “you,” more personal. Level 3: “I,” direct. You build credibility, then make it more personal.
